Imphal, July 03 2021:
Newly appointed president of BJP Manipur Pradesh A Sarda Devi has said that she would put in all her efforts towards participation of more women in assembly and local body elections to ensure pro-active involvement of Manipur women in decision making and administrative process.
Revealing about the suggestions given to her by the national leaders of the party during their three-day visit to the state, Adhikarimayum Sarda said that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a clear testimony of BJP's women empowerment agenda.
Apart from recognising the role played by women in the history of Manipur, the party appointed a woman to head BJP Manipur Pradesh for the first time and this indeed is a bold step taken by the party towards empowerment of women, Sarda noted, while reiterating that she would focus towards ensuring participation of more women in state and local body elections.
There is no denying the fact that women are at the forefront of every issue in Manipur and hence more women would be made to shoulder responsibility of the party as per its own policy from time to time being leader of the party's state unit, Sarda said, adding that she would meet women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel very soon and discuss about the problems faced by them.
According to Sarda, BJP will work with the NDA allies and fight the election in 2022 collectively and there is no question of the party fighting the election alone.
BJP still believes in going together with alliance partners but whatever national leaders take decision as per changing political scenario will also be followed in Manipur, she said, adding that the party has started preparation for the upcoming assembly election and discussion for the election had already started at different levels of the party by holding meetings.
The party had also conducted a survey to ascertain if the targeted sections of the society are getting benefits under central and state government sponsored schemes, she said, adding that workers of the party have been working at the booth level to ensure that beneficiaries get their entitlements under any scheme.
Development projects and welfare measures taken up by chief minister N Biren Singh for the people of the state were significant and laudable, A Sarda said and mentioned CMHT and implementation of ILP system as historic steps taken by the BJP led government in the state.
She also expressed hope that implementation of ILP system will protect identity of indigenous people of the state.
The state BJP chief also said that party workers are helping the government in mass vaccination programme to prevent people from contracting COVID-19 and more than six lakhs people have been given the first dose of the vaccine while around 84,000 people have received their second dose.
