Senapati, May 25 2022:
Incessant rain in recent days had washed away portions of approach road leading to the proposed Makhrelui UJB School situated near Pouna Colony, above Zaikarii stream under Makhrelui, Senapati.
The approach road from Zaikarii colony to the proposed school building, about 250 metres stretch and another from Pouna Colony to the school building, about 20-30 metres in length, were washed away by landslides due to the incessant rain during the past days.
Makhrelui Village Council reported that although landslide has not touched the school building, it is likely to slide downward if proper retaining wall and proper drainage are not constructed at the earliest.
Retaining walls below the school building from the stream is necessary to protect the land from sliding downward, it added.
Earlier, approach road from Ta-phou Pudunamei to Zaikarii colony was damaged due to rain in the past.
In this connection, the Makhrelui Village Council earnestly requested the authority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest before things get worse.
