Death anniversary of Pukhrambam Kajao observed

The 131th death anniversary of Pukhrambam Kajao, who was hanged till death by the then British rulers on May 25, 1891, was held at Pukhrambam Kajao Memorial Compound, Kangmong in Imphal West district on Wednesday.
Speaking as the chief guest of the commemorative event organised by Pukhrambam Kajao Memorial Trust, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata Singh noted that Pukhrambam Kajao sacrificed his life for Manipur.
It is indeed very important to acknowledge his supreme sacrifices and follow his path.
In the coming years, the government along with Pukhramba Kajao Memorial Trust will make efforts to celebrate the event at the state level, he added.
In his address, Health and Family Welfare minister Dr Sapam Ranjan stressed on the importance making the present generation acquainted with history of Manipur while declaring that the state government will soon recognise the spear (Ta) once used by warrior Pukhrambam Kajao.
Two books titled 'Pukhrambam Kajao' and 'Kangleipak History Tells For Pukhrambam Kajao' written by Sinam Heramani Singh and JK Luwang respectively were also released on the occasion apart from presentation of thang-ta performance.
Oinam MLA I Nalini Devi, Yarou Bamdiar Zilla Parishad member Sh Manglembi Leima, Internatonal Mother's Organisation president Khuman Leima, UMO president M Sorojini Devi and All Manipuri Nupi Marup president Th Sakhi Leima were also present at the event.
