Imphal, November 14 2022:
Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee under the aegis of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts & Cultural Society (KIMACS) organised an awareness programme on the theme 'Thang-Ta for an Ethical Wave of Living' at Lamlong Higher Secondary School on Monday.
The programme was attended by Malem Apunba Thang-Ta Maheikol (MATTM) Guru Rosen Longjamba, Thambal Marik College teacher Dr RK Romen, MATTM advisor N Tombi, Committee member L Dhamendro and KIMACS president N Ajitkumar as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, L Dhamendro recounted that Manipur was able to protect its sovereign status for over 2000 years all due to efforts of Thang-Ta practitioners.
However, the growing global influence has affected the beautiful customs and traditions of Manipur.
Even the brave nature of the people is slowly fading away.
Thus, to prevent the situation from deteriorating any further, we need to preserve our culture, custom and tradition so as to bring about a new, civilised and brave society, he asserted.
Rosen Longjamba appreciated the initiatives taken up by the government with regard to Thang-Ta.
He then expressed belief that the government will speed up the recruitment process of Thang-Ta teachers to alleviate the sufferings of the students.
