Street play, competitions mark end of legal campaign

Imphal, November 14 2022:
As part of the closing cereiho-ny of the nation-wide campaign on "Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach" and "Haq humara bhi to hai @ 75", District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West (DLSA, IW) in collaboration Manipur Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), Imphal West district police and district administration conducted a legal awareness street play by artistes of "Nokphade Team" on Sunday at Ima Keithel, here.
The programme was held in the presence of District and Sessions judge, Imphal West cum DLSA chairman Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, MASLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum, chief judicial magistrate, Imphal West secretary Janggoulen Haokip, public, Imphal West district police, law students and DLSA staff.
During the campaign period, messages related to general legal awareness were conveyed to the public, such as prohibition of child marriage, child labour/abuse, human trafficking, legal assistance to people under Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, etc.
The public were also explained that they can conveniently approach Legal Aid Clinics under DLSA and MASLSA offices.
Similarly, DLSA, Imphal East under the aegis of MASLSA facilitated staging Nokphade's play titled 'Eikhoi Khangmin Nasi" at Lamlong Bazar.
The programme was attended by District and Sessions judge Imphal East cum DLSA chairperson RK Mem-cha, MASLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum, Revenue Tribunal & MACT presiding officer N Lanleima, DLSA secretary Arshad Saeed Shah, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Porompat RK Tejbir, Porompat PS officer-in charge Ng Jadumani and Manipuri Comedy Nokphade producer and director Thoudam Ruhinikumar.
Meanwhile, DLSA, Ukhrul in collaboration with MASLSA organised a painting competition at Destitute Children Home (Boys), Alungtang as a part of the valedictory ceremony of the two-week nationwide campaign on the same theme and purpose.
The programme was attended by District and Sessions Judge, Ukhrul cum DLSA chairman Samom Ibjen, secretary Heeralata Moirangthem, Judicial Magistrate First Class cum Civil Judge Junior Division, Ukhrul PA Phungreisung, retainer lawyer Ningnim, DLSA staff, PLVs, Superintendent of the Destitute Children Home (Boys) and staff of the home.
The programme was successfully conducted with the participation of 44 children of the home.
Similarly, DLSA, Senapati organised an on-the-spot essay writing competition on the topic Fundamental Rights under The Constitution of India' at District and Sessions Court complex, Senapati.
Students of Class 8 to 10 in Kangpokpi and Senapati district participated in the competition.
Rustam Chouhan Chettri of Mount Zion Senior Secondary School won the first prize, while Chasum Rai of Brooke Dale Highway Secondary School and Dusuni Lamha of Mount Zion Senior Secondary School bagged second and third prize respectively.
