Computerisation process for PACS begins: Nemcha

Cooperation minister Nemcha Kipgen inaugurated the 69th All India Cooperative Week Celebration-2022 at Cooperative Complex, Lamphelpat, here on Monday.
The week-long celebration is being held under the theme 'India @ 75: Growth of Cooperatives and Future Ahead' and on the topic 'Ease-of-doing Business for Cooperatives, GeM, and Export Promotion'.
The event was jointly organised by Manipur State Cooperative Union and Registrar of Cooperative Society, Manipur.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest of the event, minister Nemcha Kipgen said that computerization for Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS) is under process for efficient functioning and strengthening of primary agriculture and cooperative societies.
The decision for computerisation of the PACS was taken during the state cooperation ministers' meet convened by Union home minister Amit Shah, who also holds the cooperation portfolio, in September this year.
Fund sanctioned for PACS' computerisation for the state is around Rs 9.7 crore with state's share of Rs 91 lakh, she said.
According to Nemcha Kipgen, cooperative sectors will witness massive developmental changes in near future under the supervision of Union minister Amit Shah.
A new cooperation by-law framed as per the directive of Amit Shah would come into effect soon and it will streamline functioning of cooperative societies, she said, while giving clarion call to all cooperative societies and stakeholders to strengthen the cooperative movement in Manipur for sustainable development.
She also stressed that hard work with sense of dedication, integrity and sincerity are essential for developing the cooperative sector in the state.
Presided over by Manipur State Cooperative Union chairman L Tompishak Singh, the inaugural function was also attended by additional chief secretary (cooperation) P Vaiphei and registrar (cooperative societies) Arambam Valentina as guests of honour.
