MSCW, SPs discuss women-related cases

An interactive meeting was held between Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and superintendents of police (SPs) to discuss reasons for low charge sheet of women-related cases in the state.
The meeting held at the conference hall of SP Imphal West on Wednesday was initiated by MSCW and attended by SPs.
According to a release of MSCW chairperson Professor Binota Meinam, a detailed discussion on the various reasons for low charge-sheeting of women related cases in the state was held during which the SPs suggested that Forensic Laboratory located at Pangei should be strengthened with infrastructure support and with DNA profiling system to meet the present needs.
They also suggested increasing strength of women officers to deal with women related case's.The release informed that a request would be made to the state government to open Women Police station in the newly created seven districts and in Tamenglong district.
Prof Binota also appealed to all SPs to work tirelessly for the cause of women in the state.
