Jamminial Haokip, a resident of Canan Veng, Moreh Ward No 7 has clarified that the Tata Nexon car impounded with drugs at Guwahati on July 24 neither belongs to him nor to Lhukhosei Zou's family.
Jamminial Haokip said that he bought the vehicle from Kimngaihching Zou, d/o Lhukhosei Zou on October 15, 2020 which was followed by the execution of a sale deed.
He stated that he had then sold the vehicle to Ngaineithem, d/o Hemkholun of Molvallup on February 20, 2022 due to financial issues.
"A sale deed was also executed between me and Ngaineithem", he maintained.
He clarified that he didn't change the name of the registered owner or registration certificate (RC) since he bought the vehicle from Kimngaihching Zou and because of this the image of Kimngaihching Zou and Lhukhosei Zou's family had been tarnished.
Maintaining the innocence of Lhukhosei Zou's family in the matter, Jamminial Haokip said it was his fault for not transferring ownership in RC before selling the vehicle to Ngaineithem.

Neither me nor my father are related to those persons arrested with drugs in Assam", it stated.
