First MHRC Annual Report submitted to Govt

The first ever Annual Report 2020-21 of Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) was submitted to the state government on Friday.
In a release, MHRC deputy secretary E Anand Singh informed that the report was handed over by Commission's acting chairperson Khaidem Mani to chief minister N Biren in the presence of education minister S Rajen and law & legislative affairs minister Th Satyabrata.
The MHRC, which was established in 1998, had already submitted the Annual Report to the state government on August 12, to be laid before the Manipur Legislative Assembly as mandated under Section 28 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, it added.
The release further mentioned that the report is a compilation of various activities undertaken by MHRC since its reconstitution by the present state government.
It also contains observations and recommendations of the Commission, in addition to the organisational and functional roles of MHRC.
