The Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) organised a daylong conference today titled 'Save the Peace' at New Delhi to deliberate on the Indo-Naga peace process and two resolutions were also adopted.
In a statement issued today by NPMHR, it said two point resolution were adopted which expressed confidence that establishing peace will be the strongest foundation to secure basic human rights and civil liberties of the Naga people and a demand to appoint a new interlocutor as the current interlocutor and the Naga people have a wide trust deficit between them and has derailed the peace process.
The conference was attended by delegates from various parts of the Country including from all Naga inhabited areas, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.
The delegates spoke in favour of the Naga peace process and for bringing an amicable solution to the same, added the statement.
Speaking at the conference Vaiko (MP, RS) of Tamil Nadu alleged that the interlocutor and Governor RN Ravi has crossed his limits in playing the divisive game among the Naga political groups by shaking the very foundation of the Framework Agreement which is proving to be a major cause for the ever widening trust deficit between the Naga people and the Indian Government.
Dhuruvan Selvamani read out the statement of Mr Seeman, chief coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) at the conference which expressed confidence that the rightful demands of the Naga can be achieved only by engaging in frequent result oriented dialogues and appealed the Prime Minister to come forth and follow the clauses and conditions as per the Framework Agreement.
Jagmohan Singh, editor, World Sikh News, in his speech through ZOOM stated that the Nagas have repeatedly engaged the Government of India in negotiation to resolve their political demands.
The Indo-Naga Peace Process is at crossroads because the representatives of the Government of India are trying to go back on their commitment.
He appealed to all Naga Political Organizations to sink their differences and support the NSCN (IM) to achieve durable and honourable peace, added the statement.
KVenkatraman, general secretary, Tamil National Movement, joined the conference virtually and said the demand to remove RN Ravi and appoint a new interlocutor was genuine and alleged that he was guilty of misinterpreting the provisions of the Framework Agreement.
