Imphal, September 01 2021:
All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) has cautioned of launching intense agitation if 4 percent reservation for Pangal students in admission to higher education is not implemented from the academic session 2021-2022.The present government had been repeatedly reminded and asked for implementation of 4 percent reservation for Pangal (Manipuri Muslim) students but unable to translate it into action or understand sentiments of Pangal students, a statement of AMMSO said, while strongly condemning government's alleged indifferent attitude.
According to the AMMSO statement, the organisation will coordinate with other stakeholders to launch intense form of agitations if the government fails to implement 4 percent reservation for Pangal students in admission to higher education from the current academic session.
It also appealed to people to support the agitation to be launched by AMMSO.
Expressing strong resentment over inclusion of students from other communities in OBC (MP) category in the selection list of GP Women's College of DM University, AMMSO said that the selection list is unacceptable and fresh list should be published.
Meanwhile, Pangal Students Union, Dhanamanjuri University (PSU, DMU) has pointed out various errors in the selection list of GP Women's College for admission in BA/BSc courses under the University.
In a release, PSU-DMU president Kh Alam Shah said that since its establishment in 2018, DM university has been publishing selection lists for admission with full of errors every year.
The main errors in the selection list of GP Women's College for this year include notifying of only 888 selected students instead of 900 students, selection of students of other categories in the OBC Meitei-Pangal category and selection of a male candidate for admission in the women's college.
Demanding authorities concerned to disclose overall applicant list (Cumulative list) to student community at the earliest, Alam called for rectifying the errors in the selection list of GP Women's college.
He also cautioned of launching intense form of protests if authorities fail to rectify the mistakes in the selection list and honour their demands within two days' time.
