Imphal, October 24 2021:
INC's intending candidate in Andro assembly constituency Keisham Ningthemjao Singh, popularly known as KN Singh, launched his election campaign along with an interaction programme with representatives from different polling booths of the AC at Yairipok Laimanai community hall on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, KN Singh demanded the home department to disclose the identity of the owners of arms which police seized in connection with a recent election-related violence, and name of the intending candidate for whom those gun owners were working for.
Recently, combined forces of commando and army personnel seized several arms and ammunition including an AK 47 rifle purportedly accumulated for using in the forthcoming election.
Unfortunately, the home department is remaining silent and not disclosing identity of the candidate, from whose supporters they seized the arms.
It is a matter of concern that some candidates and their supporters are resorting to violent means to secure votes.
He and Congress party strongly condemn such actions.
It is time the public identify them and teach a right lesson in the forthcoming election, KN Singh said.
He maintained that people of Andro AC would definitely want to know his intention for contesting the election.
Some individuals in the constituency are taking the public for granted in their race for power and wealth.
Ex-MLA Th Shy-amkumar is one such person, who got elected on Congress ticket but shifted loyalty to BJP just to gain power while violating anti-defection law.
As a result, the constituency remains without an elected representative and the public deprived of various opportunities.
The public should understand such self-centric politicians and elect the right candidate instead, he said.
There are several dream projects which he would like to work on if elected.
The first and foremost is to provide income generating opportunities to the youth of the constituency through various projects and develop irrigation sector so that the constituency could see year-round farming activities.
He will also take up steps to ensure market facility for the farmers in order to bring improvement in their socio-economic status, he added.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president organisation ex-MLA Tongbram Mangibabu, MPCC general secretary Hareshwar Goswami, Andro Block Congres Committee former president Haji Soukat Ali, Imphal East District Congress Committee general secretary Md Sakip and other party leaders attended the campaign launch cum interaction function.
