CPI vows to fight BJP at anniversary event

Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council celebrated its 73rd foundation day at Irawat Bhawan, here on Monday by paying floral tributes to the statue of Hijam Irawat.
Addressing the event, CPI state secretary L Sotinkumar recounted how the party was established under the leadership of Irawat on August 23, 1948 at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak.
In the last 73 years, the party has done many things for the welfare and development of the state and its people.
The party has been working for the welfare of the society and farmers with its ideology based on scientific socialism and the party will continue its work, he said.
The BJP government is a religion-centric and pro-corporate government and the party will fight so that such government does not come back to power again, he affirmed.
CPI state secretariat member S Yaima, party leaders N Singhajit, RK Amusana and S Sorojini attended the function as presidium members.
In their speeches party leader L Thoirel spoke on the functions and responsibilities of party workers while S Yaima called for encouraging younger generations to embrace and act as per the ideologies of the party.
Similar functions to celebrate the 73rd foundation day of CPI, Manipur State Council were also organised by district units of the party.
