'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will infuse young minds with a renewed spirit of Nationalism'

A one-day webinar on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was organised today by the Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Imphal, Bureau of Outreach and Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
N Malemsanba Meetei, Assistant Professor, GP Women's College spoke on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with special reference to Manipur as the resource person of the webinar which was moderated by Dr A Ibomcha Sharma, Head of Office, ROB, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, B Narayanan, Additional Director General, PIB and ROB, Imphal said that the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav aims at the youths who will shape the country's future.
He said, all forms of celebrations including webinars, photo exhibitions, audio-visual programmes etc.
on the theme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will infuse the young minds with a renewed spirit of nationalism, memory of the sacrifice made by our known freedom fighters and unsung heroes.
All this will motivate them to emulate their ideals and the young minds will be filled with revitalized energy to contribute more on the way to nation building with an infused sense of loving their motherland, he added.
Talking about the series of programmes, he said during this focus week starting from today, the Regional and Field Outreach Bureaus, across the four states of Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh in North-East, are organising eight different programmes including 6(six) webinars on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, one Photo-Feature on Freedom Fighters of India with special reference to North-East and one Audio-Visual Presentation on freedom fighters of Manipur and all the programmes will be conducted on-line due to the prevailing situation of COVID 19 pandemic in Manipur.
Speaking as a resource person of the webinar N Malemsanba Meetei said, Hijam Irabot's socio-economic and political movement played a pivotal role in bringing about mass movement and social mobilisation against the British rule in Manipur.
He also narrated about Irabot's movement which spread not only in Manipur but also some parts in Myanmar and Bangladesh, Cachhar and Surma Valley in Assam.
He further narrated the role of Jadonang, Rani Gaidinliu, Kuki Rebellion and patriots of Manipur in the Indian National Army (INA) including women who joined the Rani Lakshmibai Brigade of INA in the fight against the British in the freedom struggle.
He also mentioned on the contribution of women folks and how Nupilal which started off just as an agitation and how it became a turning point in the war of freedom against British.
Officials from different media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India from different states of the North-East, students of Manipur University and GP Women's College participated in the webinar.
