Ukhrul, December 22 2015:
The Phungcham, Paorei, Peh and Waranglai (PPPV) Development Committee has banned the ongoing PMGSY Phase IX part I road construction work from Talui junction Halang to Paorei indefinitely to protest against the alleged poor quality work by the assigned contractor(s), reports our correspondent.
A team of PPPV Development Committee members led by its chairman Ngasoching Zimik along with media persons visited the construction site to take stock of the ongoing road construction.
Jordan Pheiray, ex-BJP candidate in Ukhrul ADC, said that legal procedure will be initiated against the assigned work agency and the same matter will be highlighted to the Union Ministry of Rural Development in order to ensure that the work is executed properly.

Villagers have been facing great difficulties because of the deplorable road condition and have also appealed to the assigned contractor repeatedly to fulfil the minimum work requirement during the stage of laying granular sub-base and WBM (Water Bound Macadam).
PPPV Development Committee has also appealed to construct a retaining wall and nullah before laying of bitumen, the committee said.
Headman of Phungcham village Shangreipam strongly opposed the alleged indiscriminate exploitation of available resources like stone and soil for laying granular sub-base and WBM.
Prior permission should be obtained from the village authority before utilizing any resources available in the area, Shangreipam added.
The committee has also resolved to apprise the matter to the Governor of Manipur.
