Weapon forging unit busted

Imphal, February 19 2015:
In the wee hours of today, troops of Red Shield Division apprehended two hard core insurgents of a Kuki underground group and busted a weapon forging unit which was being actively utilised for extortion and other nefarious activities.
A statement issued by the PRO (Defence), Imphal, said that based on specific intelligence regarding presence of hardcore cadres of underground groups on Mission road, Kangpokpi, Senapati district today, troops of Red Shield Division launched an operation.
Apart from busting a weapon forging unit near Kangpokpi, two active cadres of a Kuki UG group were also apprehended in hot pursuit while the individuals tried to flee the location.

The statement identified the two cadres as No 105 S/S corporal SelenmangTuboi alias Cherry (27) s/o Selam Tuboi of Gopibung village, Senapati district and S/S private Samuel Haokip (25) s/o Thangpao of Kangpokpi.
The busting of weapon making factory has led to recovery of fully and partially prepared weapons.
The details of war like stores include one 9 mm pistol, two 7.65 mm pistols, eight magazines, twelve live rounds, one AK-47 drill cartridge, eight empty cases, ten recoil springs, twenty seven drill twists, six barrels, five weapon bodies, one AK-47 butt, twenty seven alphabets and punching tools, seven hacksaw blade, five files, one drill machine, four magazine frames and one vice (furnace making machine) .
The apprehended cadres along with recoveries were handed over to Lamphel police station, it added.
