Takyel, Lamphel to be made 'Institutional Area': CM Ibobi

Imphal, February 19 2015:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi on Thursday said that Takyelpat and Lamphelpat would be made as "Institutional Area" of Manipur.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the inaugural function of 1st National Bioresources and Sustainable Development Summit-2015 organized by Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal at its Takyelpat campus here.
Chief Minister further said that the State Government would act tough against the encroachers of government land, and ensure that every central institute set up in the state functions up to the mark.

Commending the works of IBSD, Ibobi said that the institute has been striving to bring about socioeconomic development in the northeastern states ever since its establishment in 2001 .
He further lauded the IBSD for its groundbreaking research works in bioresources and its project for preparing biodiversity data of the Northeast.
Dwelling on the prospects of tourism industry in the state, Chief Minister said that a mega tourism destination project is being planned at Loktak Lake for which the Ministry of Tourism has made necessary sanction.
Ibobi appealed to all to conserve the endangered Sangai, Siroy Lily and Loktak Lake, and make Manipur as one of the tourist hotspots of the world.
The Chief Minister also claimed that the State Government is giving special attention to the implementation of national projects in the state.
He also said the Imphal-Tupul railway project which was taken up as national project was the fastest in terms of work progress among the 34 projects being taken up by the railway authority across the State.
Director of IBSD Prof Dinabandhu Sahoo and Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar also attended the inaugural function as President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Calendar and coffee mugs for "Save Sangai" and "Siroy Lily" were also released by Chief Minister Ibobi during the occasion.
