With the Government determined to widen the roads leading to Imphal and solve the growing traffic congestion, a meeting presided by Works Minister Th Debendra was held today.
The road stretch from Chinameirong (Don Bosco School) to MU on NH-39 will be widened after evicting the encroachers and acquiring the needed land in case of patta holders, the meeting decided today.
A similar drive will be taken up on NH-150 from Kwakeithel to Lamlong bazar and on NH-53 from Tera bazar to Waheng Leikai, said a source today.
Similarly the drive will also be conducted alone Thangmeiband Watham Leirak, RIMS road, Uripok Canteen road, JN Hospital road.
To put the Govt's plan into action, a sub-committee with the Joint Secretary of Revenue Department as member secretary has been constituted.
A period of 25 days notice will be given to the encroachers as well as pattadars, whose lands will be acquired, for the road widening exercise, added the source.
