To launch any emergency rescue operation to secure the release of the abducted PHED officials, in the event of the need arising, the State Police Department, has set up a special team.
The special team will operate under the command of the SPs of Imphal East, West and Thoubal police.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Additional DGP, JC Dabbas today said that a special police team has been set up to launch a rescue operation to ensure the safe release of the three PHED officials abducted by the Kuki Liberation Army.
However the team is yet to swing into action as the family members are against the idea of launching any offensive fearing the safety of the abducted officials, he added.
The special team comprises highly trained commandos, he informed and added that the police have taken up all the necessary measures to secure the release of the three officials.
The team will work under the directions of the SPs of Imphal East, West and Thoubal.
The three officials including an AE and two SOs were abducted on November 8 and many appeals have been raised for their safe release.
Three meira paibi lups had also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister yesterday to do the needful for the release of the hostages.
The KLA on its part had demanded a sum of Rs 50 lakhs for their release.
Touching on other points, the police officer said that the operations launched by the Army at Churachandpur has begun to yield positive results and efforts are now on to reopen and reactivate the police station at Singnat.
The Singnat police station could not be made fully operational due to lack of man power, said the Additional DGP and added that nothing will be spared to make the police station functional now.
JC Dabbas however refused to comment on the details of the operations launched by the security force at CCpur side.
