The Manipur National Conference, headed by former Chief Minister W Nipamacha is set to merge with the Rashtriya Janata Dal under Lallo Prasad Yadav.
According to a well placed source, the merger may be formalised by the first week of December.
The MNC has one MLA in the present Assembly.
The general secretary of MNC, Ibohal along with other party members are currently in Delhi to negotiate the merger of the party with the RJD and everything will be settled once they return within a day or two.
The merger may be officially announced in the first week of December.
The source said that the decision to merge with the RJD was taken so that issues confronting Manipur may be discussed effectively on the floor of Parliament and also to strengthen the party ahead of the next Assembly election.
The process of the merger is being initiated with the North East in-charge of the RJD.
Once the merger is formalised, W Nipamacha may be made the president of the State unit RJD, informed the source.
The MNC is an off shoot of the MSCP after the party split following differences between Nipamacha and Th Chaoba.
The MNC was floated prior to the 8th Assembly election.
The party is yet to be recognised by the Election Commission of India.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Nipamacha said that the merger of the MNC with the RJD is at its final stage.
If any one wants to stay back with the MNC.
