UARSoM urges Govt to frame SOPs for schools

United Association of Recognized Schools of Manipur (UARSoM), the apex body of recognised schools in the 16 districts of the state, held a crucial executive meeting on Thursday at Elite Higher Secondary School, Kangpokpi town in connection with the prolonged closure of schools and the new education policy 2021 .
The executive body meeting of UARSoM was conducted by following strict COVID protocols.
At a press conference held after the meeting, L Joy, president UARSoM, said that the issue of prolonged closure of schools and the impact on the student community and the way forward for reopening of schools, and the introduction of new Education Policy 2021 were extensively discussed during the meeting.
He said that after minute deliberation on the two agendas, the meeting decided to urge the state government to formulate SOPs for early reopening of schools considering the COVID situation in the state and bring back normalcy in the education sector.
L Joy further informed that "to understand the new education policy, we have decided that a state-level workshop on the new education policy 2021 be held at the earliest.
Meanwhile, general secretary of the association, Seikhojam Kipgen said that as the COVID situation has improved, various states in the country have started reopening schools and "we also observe that the COVID situation is getting better for reopening our schools, which have been closed for a long time, considering the impact on the children".
He added that the prolonged closure of schools in the state has seriously affected the students and their future are at stake now, while appealing to the state government to look into the matter and take immediate action for reopening schools in the state.
