Imphal, September 01 2021:
Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) advisor Yambem Laba has called for ending misunderstanding among people over naming of Paona Bazar area as Sadar bazar by bringing out historical evidence of when Sadar bazar was designated.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at Yambem Jupiter Centre, Yambem Laba said that the Jama Masjid at Paona bazar is being titled as Saji-Nanriba Sadar Bazar Jama Masjid and a Meitei-Pangal organisation claimed that the place is a bazar named before the British arrived in Manipur.
If this is true, when was Sadar bazar named and which king ruled Manipur when the place was thus named, he demanded to know, while calling for a joint discussion in this regard with KKL with reference to historical records.
He also clarified that the step taken up by KKL is not against any community or political party.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Muslim Organisations Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has withdrawn the case filed against Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) on a matter related to Sadar Bazar Jame Masjid.
Speaking to media persons, AMMOCOC president SM Jalal informed that the case was withdrawn after assurance from KKL that it will not pursue the matter anymore during a meeting held between AMMOCOC, Sadar Bazar Jame Masjid Committee and KKL at the office chamber of Imphal West SP Dr S Ibomcha Singh on Wednesday.
