Three candidates in Lamlai AC have criminal records

Imphal, February 09 2022:
Out of the five candidates in the fray for the seat of Lamlai assembly constituency for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, three candidates have criminal records while independent candidate Sapam Kangleipal is the poorest.
As per affidavit submitted by the candidates, JD-U candidate Kshetrimayum Biren and BJP's Khongbantabam Ibomcha have no criminal records or FIR registered against them, whereas, INC candidate Achoibam Deben, RPI-A candidate Mongjam Poireihanba and Sapam Kangleipal have mentioned criminal records in their respective affidavits.
Sapam Kangleipal has 24 pending cases against him and Poireihanba six cases while Deben has three.
Of the five, Kangleipal is the poorest candidate with a declared movable asset of Rs 34,975 and no immovable assets.
On the other hand, Ksh Biren is the richest with movable assets of Rs 77,15,419.91 and immovable asset of Rs 54,76,918 while his wife has immovable assets of Rs 6,30,18,631.Mongjam Poireihanba has movable assets of Rs 30,28,581 and immovable assets of Rs 31,00,000 .
Khongbantabam Ibomcha has movable assets of Rs 1,66,980 and immovable assets of Rs 20,00,000, while Achoibam Deben has movable assets worth Rs 23,12,814.97 and immovable assets of
Rs 60,97,382 .
