Ahead of the second phase election to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly scheduled on March 3, a total of 12 candidates submitted nomination papers for 10 assembly constituencies in Thoubal and Kakching districts on Wednesday.
The candidates are Md Abdul Nasir of JD-U for Lilong AC; K Meghachandra of INC, Kharibam Jiban of NPP and Yumnam Nabachandra of BJP (Wangkhem); Konsam Michael of Shiv Sena (Thoubal); Th Radheshyam of BJP and N Diten of NPP (Heirok); Md Fajur Rahim of INC, M Ranjit of NPP and Md Shakir Ahamed, independent (Wabagai); K Ranjit of INC (Sugnu); and Usham Manglem of NPP for Wangjing Tentha AC.
Speaking to media persons after filing his nomination, Th Radheshyam expressed that Heirok AC in particular and Manipur in general will be more developed if he along with BJP government returns to power.
As there is no dispute over talent and creativity of Manipuri youths, the new government will work to channelise their ideas and create employment opportunities, he continued.
Pointing out that in-spite of being geographically small Japan and Israel are dominating the world in diverse sectors due to proper tapping of human resources, Radheshyam assured that his government will focus on guiding the innovative youth to the right path so that they can generate employments for many others.
Special focus will also be given in the aforementioned sector in Heirok A/C, he said, and assured to improve road connectivity in the constituency, develop sports infrastructure and take up several schemes for the farmers, elderly people, widows and minority communities.
On the other-hand, Shiv Sena candidate in Thoubal AC Konsam Michael assured of taking up developmental initiatives by joining hands with the people while Wangkhem AC INC candidate K Meghachandra said that the present BJP led government could not fulfil promises made.
The BJP government could not provide electricity and water properly to the people, could not construct proper roads and hiked the prices of essential items thus causing suffering to the people, he charged and contended that Congress and its secular democratic alliance will defeat BJP in the upcoming election and form the next government.
According to Kharibam Jiban, who is the NPP candidate in Wangkhem AC, priority will be towards generating employment for unemployed youth, provide potable drinking water, ensure proper road connectivity and take up several other development activities to make Wangkhem AC a model assembly segment.
