Hill contract teachers threaten stir

Imphal, March 24 2015:
All Manipur Hill District Contract Basis Teachers' Association (AMHDCBTA) on Tuesday threatened the State Government that it would launch agitation if its demands are not met by April 4 next.
All contract teachers are now regularly working though the Government has stopped paying salaries to them, AMHDCBTA convenor Evchand told reporters at Manipur Press Club here.
He added that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between AMHDCBTA and Manipur Government recently to regularize al the contract teachers and at the same time the teachers were paid salaries till 2008 .
Evchand said all relevant documents were submitted to the Directorate of Education (S) after the contract teachers were verified physically for regularization.
But till date, the State Government has failed to turn the process to action, he lamented and further said a memorandum in this regard was also submitted to the Chief Minister today.
Failure of the Government to implement the demands by April 4 next will lead to agitation by the association with the help and support of ATSUM and KSO, he warned.
