Imphal, March 24 2015:
At least four persons including driver of a truck have been killed when the truck fell into a gorge at a spot known as Nung Dolan along Imphal-Jiribam high-way, about 15 Kms away from Kotlen in Senapati district at around 5.30 last evening.
Nonetheless, two people travelling in the same truck survived as they managed to jump out of the plunging truck.
The truck was carrying 3000 bricks from the MSS brick firm of Patsoi to Marangching Part IV, Ta-menglong district before the fatal mishap occurred.
The deceased victims have been identified as Gaigong-lung Riamei (49) of Marang- ching Part V, truck driver Leimujam Abung (24) s/o Beikul of Tentha Marong-band, Moirangthem Tomba (28) s/o late Babu of Tentha Khunou Awang Leikai and Vikas Dongana of Kangla-tongbi.
The bricks were being transported to Marangching Part V after they were purchased by Gaigonglung Ria- mei.
Moirangthem Tomba and Vikas Dongana were labourers.
Two other labourers namely N Kumarjit (22) and L Nabakumar (28) escaped the mishap as they managed to jump out of the plunging truck.
Whereas a case has been registered at Saparmeina police station, post mortem examination of the corpses has been completed at RIMS morgue today.
