Imphal, March 24 2015:
Teachers of hill areas who were recruited on contract basis in 2006 have threatened to launch different forms of agitation if they are not regularised by April 4 .
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, JAC of All Manipur Hill Districts Contract Basis Teachers Association (JAC-AMHDCBTA) convenor PA Evchan said that they were appointed in 2006 after an MoU was signed between ATSUM and State Government.
He said that the State Government assured ATSUM that these teachers would be regularised in course of time.
However, they have been taking classes although they do not get any salary after 2008, he added.
Although, the Education (S) Department had conducted a physical verification drive in November 2011 for service extension and regularisation, nothing has been materialised till date, the convenor said.
He further said that KSO and ANSAM had submitted memoranda to the Chief Minister regarding the issue on March 2 last .
