He pointed out that assessment and trauma counseling for children is a much-needed job as their delicate minds are prone to day-to-day personal and society issue which they cannot cope with easily.
The growing competition in our society even among children and families tends to provoke violence, stress and pressure to survive, causing trauma to their delicate mindsets, he said.
As the disease is emotional in nature which is not physically visible, sometimes elders, friends, teachers and people around cannot understand sudden changes in their behavior and reaction, Prikumar said.
He said children living at Homes and survivors of people who had died of HIV/AIDS are mostly prone to this emotional setback as they are deprived of basic needs and attention of the society.
He added that confidence level of such children is comparatively low leading to emotional breakdown.
Secretary of New Life foundation, L Pishak spoke on the traumatic experience of sexual abuses faced by women and other sexual crimes such as trafficking, domestic violence.
He said that 80 percent of women face these traumas and they are unable to disclose them to anyone.
The dignitaries who were present at the proramme urged the State Government to set up proper centers and facilities for traumatized victims.
