Gangwar assures enhancement of handloom products

Imphal, March 24 2015:
Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar who arrived in the State today assured for an arrangement for promotion of State handloom products.
Weavers of the State need not go in search of markets outside the State, Gangwar stated adding that traders would be sent to the State to procure handloom products.
He was speaking at a reception event organised by the State BJP at its office premises today.
Appreciating the State handloom products, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, during his speech at the ceremony, said the Centre will make arrangement for the benefit of the State weavers in a way that these weavers would not have to set out in search of market.
"The market would be sent to the State instead," Gangwar assured.
The Minister, while expressing keen interest in promoting handloom and other handicraft products of the State, said the Centre is willing to extend every sort of help for its development.
Gangwar called for the establishment of more self-help groups and the exhibition of greater interest in the field from the people.
"Let these (handloom) products define your identity.
The BJP State Unit will provide all the possible assistance for its development," Gangwar stated.
"Textile industry is the only sector which provides largest employment opportunities to the people," he added.
BJP State Unit president Th Chaoba briefed the Union Minister about the present condition of the State.
The BJP State Unit president laid bare various deficiencies of the Congress led State during his speech.
Some of the issues pointed out by him were the issue of unemployment, water scarcity, price hike, Food Security Act and corruption.
BJP State Unit general secretary M Ashinikumar Singh, former president Sh Shantikumar Sharma and other BJP State Unit members were also present at the reception ceremony.
The unit also submitted a memorandum to the visiting minister at the occasion.
