Liquor seized

Imphal, March 27, 2014:
Personnel of Manipur Excise Department seized 80 litres of country liquor and 13 bottles of foreign liquor from an ilegal vendor at Pologround Maning in Paona bazaar on Wednesday.
As part of the preemptive measures taken up by the State Government in pursuit of the official guidance issued by Election Commission of India (ECI) in connection with the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in the State, the Excise Department continued its special drive against liquor vendors today.
A team of personnel from the Excise Department raided illegal liquor vendors at the Pologround Maning when 80 litres of country liquor worth around Rs 8, 000 and 13 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor estimated at Rs 6, 000 were seized from a vendor.
However, most of the vendors numbering about 13 were found closed during the raid.
All the seized liquors were destroyed by the Excise officials.
The two canteens at the 1st and 2nd Manipur Rifles have also been shut down to stop selling of foreign liquor following a Government order, informed an official of the Excise Department.
