Gehlot gives aids, devices to diferently-abled persons

NNN): Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has given aids and assistive devices to 975 beneficiaries from diferrently-abled persons of the State during a grand function at 1st Manipur Rifles Gound here on Tuesday.
Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishnanpal Gurjar, Chief Minister O Ibobi, social welfare minister AK Mirabai and education minister Moirangthem Okendro, among others were present on the occasion.
Aids and assistive devices worth Rs 50 lakh were distributed to 975 persons with disabilities by Thaawar Chand Gehlot distributed during the function.

Addressing the mediapersons after the function, Gehlot announced that his ministry has sanctioned Rs 1 crore to establish a 'composite regional centre' in Manipur.
The Centre will provide a 200-bedded hostel for the differently-abled persons of the State and will also propose to set up a sports centre for these persons, he assured.
The minister said his ministry is providing scholarships to pre-matric, post-matric and overseas students.
He added that the ministry is willing to provide requisite money for the implementation of welfare programmes to uplift the socio-economic condition of the differently-abled persons.
It is also ready to provide financial assistance to those NGOs which are willing to set up schools for destitute children and their rehabilitation centres, he assured.
He further asserted that Government of India is trying to ensure all persons with disabilities of the country get all the benefits entitled for them.
