Student bodies in stir mode over Abonmai's murder

Six student bodies of the state, namely All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and Apunba Ireibakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) will be launching protests from Wednesday onwards, demanding justice to Athuan Abonmai, SUK president Ningthoujam Dhanakumar Meitei has announced.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at AIMS office here Tuesday, Dhanakumar said that Athaun Abonmai was a not a layman but an important personality who worked to unite the hill and valley.
The abduction of such a leader right in front of security forces and subsequent killing should not be taken lightly.
As such, he demanded the authority concerned to investigate and apprehend the person(s) responsible at the earliest.
Stating that the people are unsatisfied with the way the goverriment is handling the incident, Dhanakumar urged the government to take action as per the wishes of the people.
He then said that the six student bodies will extend full support to all activities taken up the JAC, while adding that they will also launch various forms of agitation so as to exert pressure on the government until justice is served.
