Govt launches Super IAS 500 programme

Chief Minister N Biren officially announced the Super IAS 500 programme, a scholarship programme for deserving and talented IAS aspirants of Manipur, at a function held at the his secretariat office here on Tuesday.
The Scholarship worth Rs 2.8 crore for face-to-face IAS coaching had been taken up under Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme for civil services aspirants.
Speaking on the occasion, N Biren expressed satisfaction on selection of six Manipuri candidates in the civil service examination, 2020 conducted by Union Public Service Commission.
He stated that the Super IAS 500 programme' would provide benefit to many civil service aspirants of the state as they need not go outside to join coaching classes spending huge amount of money.
Face-to-face coaching facilities would be provided at State Academy Training (SAT), Takyelpat by best IAS mentors from Alternative Learning System (ALS), Delhi with sponsorship from the state government, he added.
The Chief Minister informed that the first phase of coaching class would commence from November 8 this year and will continue till April 30, 2022 .
Candidates, who clear the civil service preliminary examination to be held on June 5, 2022 would further avail free mains crash course and test series for mains examination commencing from June 10 to August 14, 2022 .
He also informed that the government is planning to construct a permanent complex with hostel accommodation for conducting coaching classes for UPSC examinations.
ALS national sales head Prateek Bhattacharya, while talking to the media, announced an additional scholarship worth Rs 1.1 crore for VSAT IAS coaching under ALS IAS Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative for Youth of Manipur for 300 IAS aspirants under various Scholarship slabs.
He also informed that a mega IAS scholarship exam will be conducted on October 24 in Imphal, Churachandpur and Ukhrul.
The top 200 ranks of the scholarship exam would be provided 100 per cent scholarship from the government of Manipur and they would be given face to face classes at SAT.
For those who secure rank from 201 to 500, scholarships of varying percentages ranging from 40 per cent to 75 per cent would be availed by ALS Institute depending on their ranks.
Education minister Sorokhaibam Rajen, Loktak Development Authority chairman L Susindro, State Planning Board deputy chairman L Rameshwor, Commissioner (Higher and TechnicaJ Education) M Harekrishna and Education (U) director Rangitabali Waikhom also attended the programme.
