'Repairing of road from Kamjong to Kongkan Thana will be completed soon'

The locals expressed gratitude to Central and State Government for repairing the road from Kamjong to Kongkan Thana located near the Indo-Myanmar border.
A team comprising of officials of Bhartia Infra Projects Limited (BIPL) which is handling the repairing work of 33 kilometres long stretch of road from Kamjong to Kongkan Thana, engineers of PWD, Manipur along with media personnel from Imphal visited the site to inspect the status of the ongoing repairing work.
During the visit, while speaking to media persons, Site engineer of BIPL, Laimayum Nabakishore Sharma said that hill cutting, laying of Granular Sub Base (GSB) and WBM work have been completed and the black topping work is being carried out at present.
He also expressed belief that the repairing work will be completed within February 2022 considering the current pace of work.
According to S Daniel, Headman of Grihang, this particular road was used to go to Myanmar during the Second World War.
However the road was in a deplorable condition for many years causing inconveniences to villagers especially at time of emergency, he added.
He extend gratitude to Central and State Government for repairing the road and also thanked the former secretary of NEC, Ram Muivah for initiating the work.
S Daniel also stated that villagers of Kamjong, Bungpa Khunou, Kangpat Khullen, Phaikok and Ningchou villages located besides the road will see a new light of development if the road is repaired properly.
He also expressed the desire to open a border state centre to enhance the economy of the said villages.
Secretary of Ningchou Village, W Jajo also stated that the living standard of the villagers will be increased manifold owing to the repairment of the road.
He also expressed contentment on the quality controlled repairing work taken up along the road.
