Anniversary of Sanaleipak Nachom Artistes Assn celebrated

For long shumang leela has been propagating important values for the welfare of the society and it can be used as a potent tool in promoting peace and love, stated chief advisor of Manipur State Shumang Leela Council, Dr M Nara today.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the foundation day celebration of Sanaleipak Nachom Artistes Association which was held at the residence of late BM Mekola in Mekola.
Dr Nara continued that shumang leela is still making its contributions in bringing about progress and positive changes in the society.
It is essential to keep up the tradition of the art form bestowed on us by our fore-fathers and making improvement in the process, he stated.
It is natural for alterations and additions to take place as a result of the changes brought by time but we must preserve the fundamental principles of the art form that were developed by our predecessors, he added.
He urged the artistes to yearn for the adulation of the audience through their performances.
Reminding that many shumang leela based on true historical incidents in the world had been enacted including Lidicy Gi Gulap and World Trade Centre, he stated that they are very popular among people from other countries too.
Director Ibotombi, president of the council Ph Gunachandra Sharma, advisor of the council L Tarpon and noted director Wareppa Naba were the main invitees.
As a part of the observation floral tributes were paid to the deceased artistes and personality belonging to the field of shumang leela.
