Yuisho-Lam-Wah, Lhamlai festival observed

The seven-day long Yuisho-Lam-Wah and Lhamlai celebration of the Marings concluded today at Kwarok village under Heirok Assembly Constituency.
The Maring tribe observes the Yuisho-Lam-Wah to invoke God for perennial source of water while Lhamlai was observed by clearing road for the well-being of approaching harvest.
With regard to the observance, All Maring Hills Yun Yuing Lam, All Maring Hills Cultural Preservation president, Th Moran said that the events have been observed by the Maring people since time immemorial.
He also lamented that the tribe stopped observing several traditions and festivals after Christianity made inroads.
