Mayotang, RKL repair Ukhrul eastern circular road

Ukhrul, October 08 2014: In a separate initiative the Mayotang locals and Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) undertook a repairing work of the Ukhrul eastern circular road that has been rendered un-motorable and remained neglected by the concerned authorities.

As part of its yeoman service on Tuesday, the RKL repaired the eastern circular road along the Viewland Zone II with assistance from various well wishers and youth volunteers.

"A stretch along the Ukhrul eastern circular at Viewland has remained not motorable�while causing lots of hardships for the public and students as well," said RKL general secretary Soreiso Yangya.

In a recent visit to the areas, the road has been rendered impossible for any vehicle to ply as monsoonal rains has spoilt portions of road at various locations and replete with slushy areas in the absence of proper drainage system.

Earlier, the Ukhrul eastern circular at c under Phungreitan East (zone II) was put to repairing by the locals with assistance from the district administration.

The Mayotang local authorities said the work was undertaken in public interest and for students in particular.

The locals informed that they had spent to the tune of fe lakhs, and much more is still needed to maintain the deplorable road.

It was said that the local MLAs have been apprised of the pathetic condition of the Ukhrul eastern circular road that has been totally neglected over the past 10 years.

Mayotang chairman A.Shimthar thanked the Ukhrul Dc and SDO for their concerns and extending all possible assistance towards the repairing work.

Meanwhile, the local body urges the public not to dump earth and any waste in the drainage that could cause inconvenience to the general public.

RKL expressed its profound gratitude to social activist Ngaranmi Shatsang for extending assistance with his land excavator.

Schools in these areas were also suspended due to the pathetic road condition and resumed their classes only after the repairing work was undertaken by the locals.
