Imphal, October 08 2014:
Electioneering for the Hiyanglam A/C by-election is currently on in full swing.
Flags, banners, posters and other campaign materials were seen put up at different corners across the Assembly Constituency while camps of different political parties, opened at different localities, have also started attracting quite a good number of voters.
As part of the measures to check candidates' expenditure, static surveillance police teams were also seen put into service at some localities.
Apart from putting up banners that encourage voters to turn-out, the CEO is also planning to arrange shamianas at all the 34 polling stations for the convenience of the electors.
Meanwhile, an official source said that voters, who do not have photo identity cards, may use alternative identity documents like passport, driving license, service identity card, passbooks issued by bank/post office, PAN card, Aadhar card, job card, health insurance scheme card, pension book and voter's slip.
A section each of paramilitary force would provide security cover at all the polling stations on the election day.
