Biswajit assures road, other works at Oinam

Apart from repairing the roads connecting Oinam Laila village and Ngamju Part-I and Oinam village and Ngamju Part � II in Purul sub-division of Senapati district, another 12 kms long road, linking Oinam Hill village and Besho would be constructed soon, assured PWD Minister Thongam Biswajit.
The first two roads would be repaired under PMGSY � phase X and the construction of the 12 kms road stretch would be taken up either under PMGSY or PWD's road construction programme.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 15th Oinam Hill Youth & Students' Organization (OHYSO) An- nual Tournament cum Skylark Decade Celebration, 2017 organized by Skylark Khonlik at Oinam Hill village ground yesterday.
He said a team of PWD officials would be sent within this week or by first week of January to assess the roads together with village authorities so that the repairing work can be initiated immediately and the same can be finished before the arrival of rainy season.
He also assured that a community hall with gymnasium facility and a guests house would be constructed besides renovating the village headman's house.
The Minister asked the villagers to collect donations at the time of constructing the community hall so that the hall can be constructed bigger and promised that he will provide maximum financial support.
He went on to say that gym equipment will be installed inside it in consultation with the All Manipur Body Building Association to keep the youths of the village healthy.
Biswajit further stated that he will consider the matter of constructing a work shed at the village and upgradation of PHC to CHC in consultation with the Health Minister as there are certain guidelines for this.
He also underscored the need for youths to engage in games and sports describing them as integral parts of education as many good things like discipline can be learnt from games and sports apart from staying healthy and added that India's sport is incomplete without Manipur.
Pointing out that education is the backbone of the society and must for bringing sustainable development in a society, Biswajit assured that he would consult the Chief Minister and Ministers concerned to look into infrastructure shortage of Oinam High School.
While lamenting that the past Governments did very little for development of the hill areas, Biswajit claimed that the new Government is committed to bring inclusive, transparent, effective and participatory form of governance.
He then urged the villagers to open their bank accounts to make DBT program successful and to make MGNREGA transparent.
Biswajit also asked the villagers to take benefits of housing schemes while informing the villagers about various welfare schemes.
The Minister unveiled a monolith of the 15th Oinam Hill Youth & Students' Organization (OHYSO) Annual Tournament cum Skylark Decade Celebration, 2017 and formally declared its inauguration later.
Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C MLA Soibam Subashchandra Singh and R Yuh Jonathan Tao, BJP Manipur State Executive Member also attended the function as the guest of honor and president respectively.
