Museum inaugurated

A museum titled 'Ethnological Museum, The Cultural Interpretation Centre' constructed under the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (National Museum of Mankind), Government of India, Bhopal was inaugurated today at Khoirentak Khuman, Churachandpur district.
Y Khemchand Singh, Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly inaugurated the Cultural Interpretation Centre of the Kom community.
Pukhrem Sharatchandra Singh, Advisor to CM, Chief Whip GoM, Padma Bhusan MC Mary Kom, MP of Rajya Sabha, Prof Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri, Director, IGRMS, Bhopal, Dr K Shushila Devi, Director, Art and Culture, GoM and N Munish, Regional Director ICCR attended the inaugural function as important dignitaries.

Speaking at the event Y Khemchand said that the museum will preserve and safeguard the cultural identities of the Kom community.
"It is not only the pride of the community (Kom) but for the State also that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has nominated MC Mary Kom to be a member of the Parliament," said Y Khemchand speaking about the achievements, the community has made.
Speaking on the occasion about the importance of the museum Dr K Shushila said that the museum will reflect on the history of the community.
She appealed people to help grow the museum and preserve the early tools, antiques and assured that the Government will help at its best.
MC Mary Kom promised that she will contribute whatever she can to the development of the community and the State.
