Significance of Swachh Survekshan underlined

Imphal Municipal Corporation & Ward Development Committee organised a one-day mass awareness programme on Swachh Survekshan 2018 at Namthanlong Community Hall, Ward No 1 today.
The function was attended by Gaidon Gangmei, Corporator, Ward number 1, IMC; N Gitkumar Singh, Director, MAHUD; Sharda Manoharmayum, Project Officer, IMC; Y Premila Devi, Member, Ward No 1 and P Hounilung, Member, Ward No 2 as the chief guest, president and guests of honor respectively.
In his speech, Gaidon Gangmei conveyed that Swachh Survekshan 2018 was taken up under Government of India with the main objective of making towns and civic local bodies in States of India clean and hygienic.
He appealed to the locals in Ward No 1 to use dustbins in their residential surroundings and develop a habit for using it.
He urged womenfolk in the State, particularly those within the Ward to form committees and impose fine to those who dump wastes in public places.
Disclosing that a committee will be formed each in the schools located in his ward at the earliest in connection with Swachh Survekshan, 2018, Gaidon elaborated that the committees will generate awareness on Swachh Survekshan, 2018 besides conducting regular cleanliness drives in their respective schools.
He also asked the schools located in his ward to maintain separate toilets for male and female in addition to proper parking facilities for school vans.
Underscoring the need to put in collective effort to make the environment neat and clean, he pointed out that Imphal Municipal Corporation suffers a setback in the process of cleaning the Imphal city and its adjoining areas due to the ignorance of self responsibility on cleanliness by public.
He then urged the locals in his ward to form more self help groups in the Ward to facilitate cleanliness drive.
