CADA seizes liquor, holds awareness prog

Imphal, January 16 2022:
Continuing its drive to eradicate addictive substances from the state, a team of Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) Bishnupur District Committee seized IMFL and DIC liquor from near Ningthouk-hong Project gate on Saturday.
In all, 48 Old Monk, 20 Kingfisher beer, 20 Nokphet Nokphet (full) local liquor, 20 McDowell's (quarter), 20 A Black Herb (quarter) and 20 DIC liquor (half) were seized by the team from the shop-cum-residence of one Angom Dhamen Singh (45) of Ningthoukhong Project gate.
The seized liquor were then disposed of in front of the public.
Meanwhile, CADA Imphal East District-Committee along with Sanjenbam Khunou Women's Welfare Association and Sanjenbam Khunou Development Club organised an awareness programme under its campaign to check consumption of addictive substances during election at Sanjenbam Khunou community hall on Sunday.
The awareness programme was attended by Sanjenbam Khunou Women's Welfare Association secretary Takhellambam Sanatombi, CADA Imphal East District Committee vice president Seram Tamna, Sanjenbam Khunou Development Club president Nameirakpam Tiken and CADA vice president Ningthoujam Doren as presidium members, while CADA vice president Dipanjit Ningthoujam elaborated on the adverse effects of use of addictive substance to society and individuals.
Speaking at the programme, Dipanjit Ningthoujam said that the candidates who try to lure the voters using unethical means will never take up developmental activities when she/he gets elected representative as' their primary objective would be to recoup the money spent in serving liquor and organising feasts during the election campaign.
He also exhorted the voters to help stop the trend of asking money and liquor from the candidates.
Stating that people indulging in addictive substances are generally deprived tlje qualities to think and act correctly, Dipanjit cautioned all concerned that the candidates would try to take undue advantage by providing addictive substances to the voters.
