Eikhoigi Apunba Shaktam observes foundation day

Eikhoigi Apunba Shaktam, Thangal Bazar observed its first foundation today at a programme held at Hotel Yaiphaba today.
Speaking at the event, Dr Yumnam Premananda, HOD, Department of Law, Manipur University, said with the vast geographical area and the small number, Meetei community will become a minority soon.
Meetei can be considered as a 'tribal' if we are to consider their lifestyles, he added.
Dr Yumnam Premananda also remarked that Meetei community as a whole is full of self proclaimed experts who are more than ready to post about their version of the truth on social media platforms.
He added that we should all not forget that we are below the law and live and act accordingly.

T Phulchand Sharma, president Consumer Club, said breaking or not following of rules to be followed during sales and service of items are also a punishable offence and concerned department should make sure that the people are fully aware about their rights and duties.
He also stretched on the need to work on solving the problems faced by the indigenous communities living in Thangal Bazar.
He also added that indigenous communities are facing lots of problem when one of their family members dies as they have to take permission from non-locals to cremate the dead body at the cremation centre constructed by IMC.
The programme was also attended by retired assistant director Art and Culture and Haobam Chitra Devi, president Eikhoigi Apunba Shaktam, Thangal Bazar.
