Following a joint crucial meeting of Chandel Naga People's Organization (CNPO) and Naga Chiefs' Association Chandel (NCAC) at MACA Hall Panchai on June 8, the two apex bodies submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today.
In the memorandum, the apex bodies reaffirmed the stand of United Naga Council (UNC) and stated that the ADC members as 'null and void' and will continue to register protest against the governor order earmarking 25 % of MGNREGA funds for proposal and implementation of MGNREGA works by the Zila Parishads/ADCs.
Those villages operating bank accounts in connection with the MGNREGA transactions along with ADCs members as signatories should revoke within ten days from the date of the meeting failing which the villages themselves shall be liable to explanation call, the memorandum said, while pointing out that funds in connection with development of hill district received from the GOI should go directly into the account of the DC or DRDA and the Govt move to transfer MGNREGA to MSSRDA should be stopped at once.
The memorandum also demanded resignation of Governor Gurbachan Jagat Singh, Additional Chief secretary (RD & PR), Ameishing Luikham and Joint Secretary (RD & PR), Ningthoujam Geoffrey for issuing misleading order of empowering ADCs whom the Naga people in Manipur consider as 'bogus representatives.
