House condoles Damjakhai's demise

Imphal, June 10 2013:
The 5th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly commenced from today with obituary reference to ex-MLA Damjakhai Vaiphei.
The Session would have 16 sittings in all.
The first sitting concluded with only one session in the morning.
As a part of the obituary reference, the House observed two-minute silence as mark of respect to Damjakhai Vaiphei who was elected to the State Assembly in pre-merger era (1948-49) from Churachandpur.
The leader of the House Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that the existence of a democratic government in pre-merger period of the State could be known from Damjakhai.
He further noted that Damjakhai had worked in the State Veterinary Department and retired as a Joint Director in 1988.Chief Minister also shared sorrows with the bereaved family members of the ex-MLA.
Speaker Th Lokeshwar, MLA Manga Vaiphei and MLA Th Shyamkumar also presented their words of condolence in the House.
The fifth report of Business Advisory Committee was presented by the Chief Minister and it was passed unanimously in the House.
The Budget Estimates for the year 2013-14 and Demands for Excess Grants for the years 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 were also presented by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in the House today.
