Centre approves Industrial Estates for Thoubal and Bishnupur

Imphal, June 10 2013:
The Central Government has granted its approval for setting up an Industrial Estate each in Thoubal and Bishnupur district of the State, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam has informed.
The Minister was speaking on the occasion of a day-long Industrial Development Dialogue on "State of Industrial Potential in Manipur and Look East Policy of India" held at Classic Hotel under the auspices of the All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association.
The Minister further stated that for a State to develop at its best, industrialization is a must.
We need to develop industrial sector.
So, the State Government has made all necessary arrangements to come up with an Industrial Policy of the State.
The Central Government has given its approval for setting up one Industrial Estate each in Thoubal and Bishnupur district.
Furthermore, similar development would also be seen in Churachandpur and Ukhrul district shortly, he added.
He also informed that the State Government is planning to set up Gem and Jewellery Park at Mantripukhri where people of the State will be given training on cutting various types of precious stones.
A project proposal of Rs 85 crores for development in handloom sector would also be sent to the Centre shortly.
Presided over by S Rishikesh, President of All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association, the event was als9o attended by O Nabakishore, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur as Guest of Honour.
