Babu JAC resolves not to accept body

Imphal, April 19 2013 :
Condemning the killing of Sorokhaibam Babu of Shamurou Awang Leikai and burning down of two trucks by suspected cadres of NSCN-IM at Charoi Pandongba along National Highway-37 (Imphal-Silchar Road), under Sapermeina Police station, Senapati district on 17th April, representatives of the JAC formed against the killing and various social organisation conducted a public meeting at Shamurou bazar today and unanimously resolved not to accept the body of Babu until all the demands placed before the State Government are fulfilled.
The resolutions include pressing the government to investigate into the incident and framing a long term policy and formation of highway protection force so as to prevent such kind of incidents in future; to share the sorrows of the bereaved family members and help the next of the kin by all; to extend support to the ongoing 48-hour general strike by all and continuation of the agitation until all the demands made by JAC are fulfilled by the Government.
Furthermore, the meeting resolved that Babu was a victim of security loopholes along national highways and demanded the state government to pay suitable compensation to the next of kin of the victim.
The meeting also demanded that the culprits and state government should take the first and second responsibility of the killing.
Meanwhile, in separate statements, various social organizations including Kuki Inpi Moltam Lhang; Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur(PLMPAM) ; All Manipur Petroleum Tankers Drivers' Union (AMPTDU); People Action For National Democratic Movement (PANDM) also condemned the gruesome murder of Babu and burning down of two goods laden trucks by suspected armed cadres of NSCN (IM) .
