CM launches Poshan Maah, Matru Vandana Saptah

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday launched the Rashtri-ya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month), 2021 and Matru Vandana Saptah, 2021 in a function held at CM's Secretariat here.
The Poshan Maah is celebrated during the month of September every year to encourage the masses to join hands with the government in addressing issues related to malnutrition amongst children and women, and to ensure health and nutrition for everyone.
On the other hand, Matru Vandana Saptah, 2021 would be held till September 7 to create awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana which provides cash incentive of Rs 5000 directly into the bank/post office account of pregnant women and lactating mothers of the first-born living child.
Secretary to chief minister and secretary (Social Welfare) Ningthoujam Geoffrey and other high ranking officials of the Social Welfare Department also attended the function.
The tentative calendars and t-shirts of Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2021 and Matru Vandana Saptah, 2021 were also released at the occasion.
Meanwhile, Senapati district administration in collaboration with ICDS, Senapati launched the Poshan Maah at the Conference Hall of DC office on Wednesday.
During the programme, deputy commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari led those present in taking oath to make children, adolescents and women healthy and free from malnutrition.
The programme was attended by district level officers and sub-divisional officers.
Similarly, the 4th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2021 and Matru Vandana Saptah, 2021 were launched for Imphal East district on Wednesday by the district administration in collaboration with ICDS Cell at SIRD Hall, DC Complex, Imphal East district.
The programme was attended by DC Imphal East Khumanthem Diana along with additional deputy commissioner Shamim Ahmad Shah, sub-divisional officer Porompat Pooja Elangbam, ZP CEO Ng Jogendra Khumancha and district program officer Miranda Zimik.
