A two-day State level seminar on the theme 'Issues, Challenges & Trends' being organized by Manipur Library Association (MALA) began today at Manipur Press Club.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Anand conceded that all round effort being put in MALA to bring library movement in the State is commendable as library will provide immense knowledge and help in instilling reading habit which is an importance practice to the people especially students.
He admitted that the government has not able to develop library in the State due to lack of fund but it is of the view that library movement should take a quantum leap.
Stressing the need of strengthening human resource to bring in considerable growth in the State, he noted that the State is lagging behind in science and innovative ideas as compared to other States which need to be accelerated.
Khaidem Mani said that the role of library in building a society is of paramount importance as it is the centre for knowledge and expressed his desire for establishment of district library in the nine districts of the State.
He urged the government to be pro-active in addressing important issues pertaining to the State and maintain good governance which is the need of the hour.
To mark the occasion, a newsletter of MALA was released.
