Handyman killed as vehicle falls into gorge

Imphal, October 11 2014 :
In a fatal road mishap, a handyman of a Tata Tipper used in transportation of railway materials lost his life when the vehicle he was travelling fell into a deep gorge at Awangkhul along National Highway 37 under Nungba Police Station in Tamenglong district on October 10 around 8 am.
The deceased has been identified as Seidul Hagni (20) s/o Md Namaruddin of Gamera village, Assam.
Driver of the vehicle identified as Mala Das (22) s/o Gopal Das of Jiri Ghat in Cachar district also sustained injuries in the accident.
He received injuries on his right leg, left knee and hands and is undergoing treatment to a nearby hospital.
The vehicle has not been pulled up from the gorge which is around 600 meters deep till the time of filing this report.
In a separate road accident, a woman was hurt when a Maruti car she was travelling collided head on with a speeding Bolero car near Khabeisoi Oil Pump along Imphal-Ukhrul road under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East today around 2.35 pm.
The injured has identified as Haobam Deviya (20) d/o H Yaima of Palace Compound.
Meanwhile, the woman who was hospitalized in Shija Hospital after she was hit by a Maruti car while walking at Lamboikhongnangkhong under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West on October 9 succumbed to the injuries yesterday evening.
The deceased identified as Angom (o) Meera (37) w/o A Robert of Samushang was walking at Lamboikhongnangkhong area when she was hit by the car bearing registration no MN05-5035 .
